Time is flying. This is heart month. I have a new 4 month old Bouvier puppy. My dear friend Mary picked her up in Toronto and flew with her back to Victoria, B.C. As Mary says this puppy is totally zen. She was purchased as Elle, my blonde Bouvier is 10 now and getting older. Elle wasn't thrilled with the black bug in the beginning but they have come to a detante...Caragh, the Irish spelling for CARA which means beloved, is going to begin her training to become a certified service dog. Being in the wheelchair I knew would be challenging with potty training Caragh so we assured that she would go on the puppy pads in a designated are which she has mastered and is now getting much better at recognizing ringing the bell on the door to go out. I feel confident that within the next 30 days she will be fully potty trained.
She has slept through the night since arriving Dec 5, 2023 without issue. Caragh tranisitioned from her airline bag sleeping into her crate without issue. She loved her bag but she literally grew so much in one day that she just couldn't get in. She had travelled in her crate once to the vet for her checkup so I said to her that her crate was the new bag. She was a big anxious about going in but once in and door closed she just went to sleep. She can see me through the crate holes and waits patiently in the morning for me to get the wheelchair legs on. This puppy can hold it from 11 pm to 7 am...has never had an accident in her crate so I know she "gets" holding it...LOL...She has her basic commands in place and understands wait. She knows how to work with the wheelchair at almost 4 months. She is a sweet, smarty pants full of love and energy. But Zen!
She zonks out and lies on her back legs splayed in the classic Bouvier relaxed sleep mode providing me with hours of laughter. Elle has grown to understand that Auntie Mary isn't taking her back and is resigned that her black bug is here to stay. So once Caragh is a certified service dog she can go everywhere with me by law. Once out of this chair I will be doing a lot of make up travelling and she can have a seat on the plane, train, bus or whatever or wherever I go. The little, Holly and Bella travelled everyone with me by back or crate...Caragh can't fit in a bag to go under the airline seat any more...lol..
So the adventures of Caragh begin. I will be filming this training adventure as of course Caragh will be easy its getting me trained that will be the challenge.
